Since 1965, Head Start has been providing a comprehensive, holistic program of education, social services, health, mental health, nutrition, disability services and parent involvement opportunities to low-income young children and their families who reside in Forsyth County.

Working in collaboration with community agencies, Head Start's goals are to promote school readiness by enhancing social and cognitive development and to strengthen families by fostering self-sufficiency, problem-solving skills and a spirit of life-long learning. Respecting the variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds within the community as well as emphasizing social competence in mainstream United States culture are important objectives of all Head Start Programs.

Family Services, Inc's Head Start receives federal funding from Health and Human Services (HHS)/Administration for Children and Families (ACF) as well as supplemental funding from MORE-AT-FOUR and the USDA Food Program.
